The distinguished UK star Mirren, currently winner of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, five Emmy Awards, plus a Tony, is set to receive another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, octogenarian, previously made a dame in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will receive the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony are held, within an event billed by the Golden Globes as Golden Eve.

This will also include the presentation of the Globes’ Carol Burnett award for TV work, the recipient of which is still to be revealed. The prior year’s honorees included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of remarkable,” stated Helen Hoehne, Helen Hoehne. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft constantly motivate generations of artists and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Professional Journey

The star became well-known during the seventies through significant parts in theater in the West End of London and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her lead performance in the investigative show Prime Suspect expanded her audience further. Other important films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 for The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions with the Queen and prime minister the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• More recent films comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Mirren’s turn in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and honors speculation is building about her portrayal as an ailing family head in Kate Winslet’s initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, Mirren will be seen in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be announced December 8, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
