Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande at Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An Australian man who jumped across a fence and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.
The man, twenty-six, was sentenced to nine days in prison for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control stated to Singaporean press.
Wen pushed through camera crews and charged at the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.
The incident caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The celebrity has spoken of experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the UK city in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and injured hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to regional reports.
He then made a follow-up try to cross the barriers. Protection personnel stopped him and pinned him down.
The man subsequently shared video clips appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."
Law enforcement detained him the next day and brought charges against him with public nuisance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Court Judge the judicial official was cited by a news outlet as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was mistaken to think he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not commented on the situation.
Erivo discussed the situation to the press, saying that she "simply desired to ensure my co-star was safe."
"I believe he didn't intend us harm, but you never know with those things, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she said.
