Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
