Anthony Joshua repeated his much-discussed comments about wanting to “kill” his opponent during a media gathering in Miami on Wednesday.

The remarks were originally stated on the previous day when the boxer was questioned if he would show restraint against Paul, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

Saturday's fight against the internet personality turned fighter has sparked debate over safety concerns and the size difference between the two athletes.

Fury Labels AJ a “Disgrace”

Ex- titleholder The Gypsy King called Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory language.

But Joshua, explained his position: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I understand many people don't understand it but this is what my job is. I take pleasure in what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's crucial, with all due respect.”

He added, “That's just the psychology we have to have as warriors. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a dangerous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You wish your opponent exits the ring safely, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Paul's Fiery Response

Paul, a massive underdog in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was no less incendiary in his reply.

“This is a modern day combat sport,” he stated. “I'm prepared. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, in his twenties, at Miami's Kaseya Center in a bout many regard as a major mismatch, with some arguing it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The official fight will be fought over eight 3-minute stanzas using regular ten-ounce padded gloves, with a stipulated weight limit for the former champion.

He Says He Was “Called In to Rescue” Boxing

Despite the vulgar terminology used, Joshua said he has been “brought in to rescue” boxing.

“They want me to halt the Jake Paul phenomenon and I understand it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this fight,” he concluded.

The final staredown concluded peacefully, with Paul adopting a odd posture before Joshua remained calm and playfully grabbed Paul's chain.

Paul & Joshua Deny Pre-Arranged Allegations

The peculiar aspect of this fight has led to rumors about its authenticity, including claims that Joshua may be restricted from knocking Paul out.

“There are no clauses in the contract, AJ can confirm it. We're going to war,” Paul insisted.

Joshua, sporting a expensive chain, humorously remarked, “The only thing in the agreement that got my attention was the purse.”

Paul has stated on social media that the total purse will be extremely high.

Jake Paul first made his name as an online prankster, gathering a massive social media following.

He has never fought anyone of Joshua's calibre but maintained that his opponent would take him seriously.
